The Executive Education office at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business is looking for a student assistant who not only wants a part-time job while in school, but is looking for an opportunity to learn and grow with one department while here at Georgia Tech.

The Executive Education department offers numerous programs designed specifically for executive-level professionals, including two Executive MBA programs, public certification courses for business professionals and customized corporate training programs. As a student assistant in this office, you will be highly involved with numerous projects related to the Marketing, Sales and Operations of these programs. Regular administrative duties will include greeting guests, answering phones, mail distribution, photocopying, event set up/support and other duties as assigned. Additionally, you will be a key player in the support of our Executive MBA and Customized Corporate Training programs, which will provide you the opportunity to interact with hundreds of Atlanta-based business professionals on a regular basis.

The Executive Education office runs like a corporation so you will not just be a student in our office, but a working professional. As such, we require business casual attire, consistent attendance and a strong desire to learn about business processes. Our Executive MBA classes are in session on Friday evenings until 9:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 5:30pm, so the standard work schedule for our student assistant will be these same hours, with the addition of some early morning hours to support other corporate events, for a total of 15-20 hours per week.

Social Media Manager for a Linear Algebra EdX Series

An introductory linear algebra series offered on EdX that is managed by The School of Math and Georgia Tech Professional Education gives thousands of learners from around the world a foundational set of tools and concepts that have applications in a wide range of disciplines and academic programs. Enrollment in the series is free: thousands of students from all over the world take them every semester. In the fall semesters we typically have a combined enrollment of over 4,000 students across the four courses.

We are seeking a student who has a passion for online learning and linear algebra to help us support the learners in the courses we offer in our linear algebra series. As a social media manager for this project, you will help develop community among our learners.

We are piloting live Zoom sessions that will be on Thursday evenings from 9 pm to 10 pm ET for eight weeks in the Spring semester starting January 23. You would need to be available during these times to help moderate the discussion.

We would also need help with some combination of: 1) interacting with learners on our course forums by answering questions students may have about linear algebra, 2) welcoming new students to our courses on our course forum, 3) engaging with learners on our social media pages, and 4) creating engaging content we can share on social media to advertise our courses and aspects of them that our team is developing.

In this part-time remote position you will support the learner experience in the Spring 2025 semester for roughly 5 hours per week at $15 per hour. Experience with tutoring/teaching, latex, working on a team, and the content of linear algebra (eg - MATH 1553, MATH 1554, or MATH 1564) is preferred. All work will be done remotely with a School of Math faculty member and a team of student assistants.

You must have an eagerness to learn, working in a small team, meet in brief weekly online meetings, and be able to moderate one-hour live Zoom sessions on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks.

We will offer training and guidance on how to support our learners.

We can only hire GT students for this position.

Network Services Part-Time Student Assistant

As an integral part of the Network Engineering division within Georgia Tech's Office of Information Technology, the Network Services team provides engineering and technical support of network electronics hardware and software in a multi-tiered, distributed network environment. Within the Network Services team, the backbone team supports over 2,500 switches across 200+ buildings to provide more than 200,000 wired data network ports, the wireless team supports approximately 7,000 wireless access points across the Georgia Tech campus to provide wireless connectivity for about 35,000 client devices, the firewall team supports over 1,000 firewalls enforcing 120,000+ network security rules, and the development team creates and maintains tools to enhance the customer experience and make all of the above more manageable and efficient.

The Network Services team has the following opportunities available for Spring 2025:

NETWORK SECURITY PART-TIME GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANT (1 position available)
• This position will work with the Network Services firewall team to assist in the support of the enterprise firewall and VPN infrastructure on campus. Note: Applicant must be available to complete assigned tasks onsite at the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of firewall and VPN software/hardware
• Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students for VPN connectivity
• Provide technical support to departmental IT staff for firewall policy changes and network access-related issues
• Utilize network management, monitoring, and documentation tools
• Participate in the creation and maintenance of network documentation (e.g., network diagrams, methods of procedure (MOPs), and knowledgebase articles)
• Assist full-time network support engineers on other tasks as assigned
• Preferred skills/experience:
• Experience with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting
• Knowledge of firewalls, VPN technologies, and network security best practices
• Prior experience in an IT support role or network security field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with enterprise firewall management (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Fortinet) would be beneficial (but not required) for the position

• This position will work with the Network Services team to support the campus wireless networks, focusing primarily on reviewing and updating wireless access point deployments within the Cisco DNA Center network management software. This work will require occasional verification of wireless deployments using RF scanning software. Note: Applicant must be available to complete assigned tasks onsite at the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Work with Wireless team members to map and document access points deployed in buildings using the Cisco DNAC program and AutoCAD drawings
• Support campus wireless/walk-up network (LAWN)
• Utilize network management, monitoring, and documentation tools
• Assist full-time network support engineers on other tasks as assigned

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PART-TIME UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANT (1 position available)
• This position will work with the Network Services development team to develop tools to enhance network deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, and the campus customer experience. Note: There may be some tasks that could benefit from being physically on campus, but this position is expected to be able to complete most (if not all) assigned tasks remotely.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to development and support of web applications maintained by the network team and utilized by the campus IT community
• Contribute to development of new web applications for upcoming service offerings
• Create and maintain scripting and automation tooling to support campus network equipment and infrastructure
• Example Projects:
• REST development with Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions
• Reactive web development with modern frameworks (react, vue.js, etc)
• API integration with external platforms
• Network monitoring and data gathering
• Preferred skills/experience:
• An ideal candidate will have some level of experience with at least three of the following items:

Impact and Influence:
