The Historic Academy of Medicine is connected to the Georgia Tech campus via the Tech Trolley, with a stop directly in front of the building.
The building is conveniently located .2 miles from the Midtown MARTA station, a short 5 minute walk.
-The Historic Academy of Medicine is owned by Georgia Institute of Technology, a state owned entity. The list of catering companies provided is an approved list from the Institute and must be followed. Exceptions may be discussed with the building’s Event Staff.
May I bring in my own alcohol?
- No, the liquor license for the Historic Academy of Medicine is owned by Complete Beverage Systems. All alcohol must be purchased and poured by Complete Beverage Systems and their professional staff.
Where do my guests park?
-There is parking on-site parking that can be made available for you event; please contact an event coordinator for more information or visit parking and transportation.
My reservation will need a projector and screen for a powerpoint presentation and possibly a microphone. Is that possible?
-Many rooms at the Historic Academy of Medicine have built-in audio visual equipment: Theater, Magnolia Room, Sugarberry Room, Cottonwood Room. For those rooms that do not have built-in audio visual equipment, mobile equipment can be offered. Please call the office at 404.894.1414 for more information and for pricing.
How many guests can come to my event?
-This question depends greatly on what type of event you are hosting at the Historic Academy of Medicine and if you plan to use any of the beautiful outdoor space available. The Theater, used for: conferences, lectures, performances, ceremonies, special events and symposia; can seat 230 guests. The building has hosted events as large as 500 guests or as intimate as 20 guests.
Is there an elevator in the building?
-Yes, the Historical Academy of Medicine has two internal elevators and one external chair-lift. The building, although being on the National Register of Historic Places, is ADA accessible.
What type of events are hosted at the Historic Academy of Medicine?
-The building is a unique venue with flexible options, and versatile floor plans that can work for a wide variety of events!
Would my reservation include any outdoor space?
-Yes! The Historic Academy of Medicine has a gorgeous front lawn that has been beautifully landscaped by Georgia Institute of Technology. The front lawn may be reserved with an Upper Level or full building reservation. There is also a quaint courtyard that can be reserved with a Terrace Level or full building reservation.
Will I need special insurance for my event?
-Yes, the Historic Academy of Medicine requires all events to carry special event insurance. As a client you can purchase this insurance via any provider. What time does my event need to end?
-The Historic Academy of Medicine does not have a dedicated stop time. Your reservation can start as early and end as late as you wish, as long as it is follows the contracted Use Agreement you signed upon booking.
Do you have a preferred vendor list?
-The Historic Academy of Medicine has preferred vendors for catering and for bar services. All vendors must carry certificates of insurance meeting the Use Agreements needs. Should you need help finding a vendor our team is more than happy to help. We also love meeting and working with new vendors!
I have never hosted such a large scale event before….Can the building’s event coordinator help me?
-The Historic Academy of Medicine’s team of professionals has more than 40 years of combined industry experience; we are happy to help in any way!
